Stephen Ladds, Director

Stephen is responsible for the company wide operations of Bellwether. He has 20 years experience in civil construction projects with major Australian contractors nationwide, on projects up to $1.5bn value. Stephen has a diverse background in engineering design, development, construction management and consulting. Stephen specializes in project development, construction planning and project management across Major Infrastructure, Water and Transportation projects.

Ben Sawtell, Director

Ben is responsible for construction implementation of major client side projects. Ben has 15 years experience in construction management. He has extensive experience in the development of effective construction processes, project controls, project integration as well as direct management of large construction projects. Ben specializes in Project Controls and Project Management of complex construction projects.

As a motivated, creative and versatile executive, Stephen heads up the Bellwether Contractors Estimating Team working with and managing our teams across internal and external bid, pre-contracts, and planning teams to ensure projects have the best possible chance of commercial success.  With an intensive history spanning more than 20 years across major infrastructure projects in the road, rail, mining and energy sectors, Stephen is a formidable estimating talent.  His robust methodologies, approach and estimating experience come directly from working within the civil construction industry.  His ability to understand complexity and simplify it, to bring a strong commercial eye to the table, and the combination of both client and contractor side experience enable him to deliver exceptional return on investment for our clients.

Annelise Price, Senior Staff

Annelise is an Operations Business Support professional with broad based experience in some of Australia's largest corporations and multidisciplinary organisations.  With a career that has crossed different industries, including Business Consulting, Project Management, Construction and Tourism & Hospitality, she utilises administration strengths and specialises in Project Administration, Community & Stakeholder Engagement strategies and assisting with procedural and process implementation whilst bringing innovative and sustainable solutions to ensure a high performance culture on Bellwethers business operations.

Adrian Vesnaver, Senior Staff

Adrian is a professional civil engineer with 20 years of experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on major infrastructure projects in Australia and the Pacific for Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors under a variety of procurement and delivery models to both private and public sector clients. Commencing his career in project based construction roles, he later specialised in estimating, proposals and bid management. Since joining Bellwether Adrian has extended his diverse experience to include client side project support, workshop facilitation and independent review across the entire project life cycle. He brings comprehensive technical expertise and engineering knowledge, and is a Chartered Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) in the areas of civil and structural engineering, and leadership and management. He is actively involved in promoting a sustainable infrastructure industry in his role as Bellwether's representative on the board of the Infrastructure Association of Queensland.

Mary Duffy, Cost Estimator

Mary is a professional civil engineer and estimator with over 10 years’ experience in estimating and engineering in civil construction. Over the past four years she has been bidding major road projects for Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) & Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) projects.  Her original background came from projects in Ireland consisting of bulk earthworks, road construction, stormwater, drainage and bridge constructions which gave her on ground experience and a full understanding of the methods and techniques required to build major projects.

David Tigani, Senior Staff

David is a Project Manager with 18 years’ experience in the design, planning and project management of a range of civil infrastructure projects in Australia and overseas. David has operated primarily at the design-construction interface and as a consequence has a thorough appreciation for both the construction and the design process. Dave understands the aviation industry and its standards courtesy of his time spent as a civil designer working on projects like:

  • Brisbane International Airport - car parks
  • Brisbane International Airport Northern Extension
  • Brisbane Domestic Airport Extension North & South
  • Qantas Hangar – Site Filling Phase, Brisbane Airport, Qld

Dave couples this technical knowledge with his construction management and contract administration skills to provide a complete package.

David Turner, Senior Associate

Dave has over 40 years’ experience in infrastructure projects throughout Queensland, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. He has been responsible for the design and delivery of a wide range of private and public sector projects including urban and rural roads, freeways, railway alignment and associated infrastructure, residential and industrial subdivisions, building structures, bridges, process plant civil works together with a wide range of traffic, transportation and infrastructure studies. Dave has had recent experience managing the design-construction interface on numerous large infrastructure bids, including projects like:The Horizon Alliance, The Surat Basin Rail Project, Robinson Road – Road over Rail overpass, and The Gateway Bridge Duplication.

Trevor Jarvis, Senior Associate

Trevor has worked in the construction industry for nearly 45 years, with experience in a range of disciplines. Trevor’s estimating and tendering abilities include budget estimating, first principles estimating, bid preparation, bid management review of commercial and technical documentation, risk and opportunity assessment, supplier/ subcontractor scoping and evaluation, pre-contract negotiations, project commercial and technical support. Trevor has demonstrated these skills in a diverse range of disciplines including water and waste water, oil and gas and transport infrastructure. Relevant to this brief, Trevor was the lead estimator for the $150m waste water plant upgrade (alliance) at Sandgate, Oxley and Wacol.

Chris Murphy, Industry Mentor

Chris Murphy is a well-respected senior industry professional who has more than 30 years’ experience in the successful management and construction of large and small road, resource and infrastructure projects. Chris has experience working on major road infrastructure projects in various capacities. He has progressed from the level of site engineer, through the roles as Area manager, Project Manager, Superintendent, Principals Representative to Project Leadership Team member. Chris utilises this extensive public infrastructure construction experience to advise clients on constructability issues early in the project life-cycle.  In this capacity, Chris has advised – Council, TMR and several major consultants.

Alistair Cameron, Industry Mentor

A Sydney-based Executive Engineering Manager with extensive experience in engineering planning and the delivery of major projects specialising in management and engineering for civil infrastructure, buildings and large multi-disciplinary projects. Alistair provides professional management services to enable owners and project organisations to win and deliver major infrastructure projects. His key business strengths and services provided include general management of public and private engineering enterprises; project director leadership; project management, contract management and advice; construction management support and tender preparation management and support. Alistair has diverse multi-disciplinary experience across many sectors including transportation (rail, road, aviation), mining, buildings and utilities and has managed engineering offices in Australia and UK and undertaken projects in Australia, UK, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Africa.

Robert (Bob) Evans

Over 45 years of experience in successfully managing/leading private sector business enterprises and directing development and service contracts for both public utility and private sector clients. Responsible for the preparation of bids and execution of large-scale infrastructure, industrial, mining and building projects including numerous PPP ventures. These ventures have involved design and construction of complex underground and marine installations, extensive road and rail works, both on-grade and on structures, as well as industrial installations such as Australia’s only nuclear reactor and the Sydney desalination plant. As CEO/ Managing Director and General Manager leading corporate teams in developing new and expanding existing business enterprises. Commercial/financial experience extends from company acquisitions and restructuring to major contractual negotiations and dispute resolution.

He has extensive experience in the development of effective construction processes, project controls, project integration as well as direct management of large construction projects. Ben specializes in Project Controls and Project Management of complex construction projects.

Stephen Ladds, Managing Director

Stephen is responsible for the company wide operations of Bellwether. He has 20 years experience in civil construction projects with major Australian contractors nationwide, on projects up to $1.5bn value. Stephen has a diverse background in engineering design, development, construction management and consulting. Stephen specializes in project development, construction planning and project management across Major Infrastructure, Water and Transportation projects.
