The Fairbairn Dam is an earth-filled embankment dam across the Nogoa River, located southwest of Emerald in Central Queensland, Australia. The Fairbairn Dam upgrade is addressing the condition of the original spillway drainage system and ground anchors that have deteriorated and are not functioning efficiently. The completed works aim to ensure improved function, adhering to the latest national engineering standards.
The dam owner and manager (and in this case principal contractor), Sunwater, required construction experts to progress this project to the construction phase.
The Bellwether team is working closely with the Sunwater project team to deliver an efficient construction management plan, staging plans, value engineering and risk management plans. Bellwether is also delivering detailed, probabilistic cost estimate and scheduling for the project to keep everything on track and is managing day-to-day construction activities.
The Bellwether team provided robust cost estimates for the applicable scope of work to allow Sunwater to progress the project to the construction phase of work. This project is ongoing and the Bellwether team is progressing this project well within a highly accelerated timeframe.
