The Department of Innovation, Tourism Industry Development and the Commonwealth Games have established Gold Coast Global Tourism Hubs (GTH). These are an integrated strategy for Queensland which incentivises the private sector to support the delivery of the Government’s policy objectives.
Global Tourism Hubs secure additional regional benefits and go beyond previous developments, creating a hub for infrastructure and investment through building on and reinvigorating current developments.
The current State Government has begun a new process to attract proposals from the global market to develop a GTH. A GTH is described as a high quality, mixed use destination aimed at providing tourism, leisure and entertainment facilities for the GTH local, domestic and international market.
Cardno was engaged by Gold Cost City Council to develop the design for several GTH sites. Bellwether previously provided Strategic Cost Estimates for the Broadwater Site and the Carey Park Site.
This project concerned a third GTH Site, Bundall Road. Five intersections were identified as requiring enabling works should the GTH project proceed. Bellwether provided strategic cost estimates for the five intersections.
Bellwether’s scope included the following:
The Bellwether team produced a Basis of Estimate Report outlining the costs associated with the enabling works required on the 5 intersections affected by the potential Bundall Road GTH Site location. Cardno were able to integrate this report into their design report for the Gold Coast City Council to inform their decisions on the future development of the site.
