The site of the Miles CBD Streetscape construction area is within the Warrego Highway (Murilla Street) Miles, bounded by the Leichhardt Highway (Dawson Street) to the east and Pine Street to the west. The project area includes transitions at project extents, and adjacent pedestrian and recreational areas.
Miles is located about 350km west of Brisbane.
Bellwether delivered this project under budget during a challenging rainy season. We were able to service this remote location despite the logistical challenges, using a charter plane to fly our team in and out and relying on local labour and suppliers whenever possible.
The project has transformed the CBD into a vibrant, welcoming space, activating the streetscape and encouraging people to slow down, stop, visit and stay longer.
The project was delivered as part of Western Downs Regional Council’s COVID-19 Recovery Package to secure and create jobs, in partnership with the Australian Government’s $3 billion Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.
