Significant growth is predicted to take place in Melbourne’s northern growth corridor within the next 5-10 years. This project focused on a Business Case for the growth area surrounding Gunns Gully Road and the Kalkallo Township. There are two new developments, Cloverton and Merrifield that are growing rapidly on either side of the Hume Freeway. These developments are expected to bring large volumes of people, with Cloverton planned to be a Metropolitan Activity Centre and Merrifield a Major Activity Centre. Because of this growth, new infrastructure investments are required to enable growth.
VicRoads needed an experienced consultant to investigate options for investment in new infrastructure to help enable and cater for predicted growth in the area and to also address the safety issues along the Hume Freeway. This information was required to assist VicRoads with the completion of the Gunns Gully Road Business Case.
Bellwether was engaged to prepare an Interim Findings Report for VicRoads to help inform the final Business Case for the Gunns Gully Road Interchange. Drawing on extensive experience and knowledge of similar projects, the Bellwether team assessed the project designs, as part of the preliminary concept stage, and identified preferred options to progress.
The Bellwether team produced a thorough Interim Findings Report, outlining a number of preferred options and items for consideration for the client. This extensive report helped VicRoads progress the Business Case for the Gunns Gully Road Interchange and gave them confidence in the options presented.
