The project is located about 35km west of Nairnsdale. The Stony Creek site extends through both Crown land and freehold land, Stony Creek is a tributary of the Mitchell River. Stony Creek joins the Wattle Creek and enters the east side of the Mitchell River approximately 5.5 kilometers upstream of the Glenaladale-Lindenow Road Bridge over the Mitchell River.
The designer reviewed an options study completed a few years ago for the Lindenow Irrigation area in Gippsland for Southern Rural Water. As part of the study, they concentrated, on one option which is a 17GL dam with pump station and pipeline. They required a consultant to review two costs previously completed for the study and provide an estimate.
Bellwether reviewed the cost estimates previously completed and provided the following:
In the process, it was decided that the best way to form a basis for the comparison was to produce an independent P90 estimate of the Stony Creek 17GL Dam with pump station and pipeline which allowed for more informed decision making.
